Louw Lubbe
Practice owner and lead adviser. 22+ years of experience structuring financial plans that protect, grow and preserve client wealth.
The practice was originally established in 1989 by Dawid van der Merwe, who successfully developed and grew the business over more than three decades. Under his leadership, the practice earned a strong reputation for delivering consistent, relationship-driven financial advice.
Dawid retired in May 2024, marking the conclusion of an exceptional career and the beginning of a new chapter for the practice.
In 2024, Louw Lubbe formally assumed ownership through a structured transition from Dawid — ensuring continuity for existing clients while positioning the practice for future growth. Today, Louw Lubbe Financial Planning continues to uphold its legacy of trusted advice — combining decades of experience with a forward-looking approach to personalised financial planning.
Louw joined Old Mutual Personal Financial Advice in January 2002 from African Bank, where he was recruited as a Business Manager in Vanderbijlpark. Over a distinguished 22-year career in management, he has demonstrated consistent leadership excellence and a strong commitment to client outcomes.
His achievements include being awarded the prestigious Old Mutual Chairman’s Prize in both 2016 and 2019 — recognising him as the number one Business Manager within Old Mutual nationally.
Throughout his tenure as Business Manager, Louw also built and maintained his own client base, grounded in long-term relationships and professional advice. In 2024, he formally assumed ownership of the practice through a structured relationship transition from Dawid van der Merwe.
Louw’s credentials are anchored in formal qualifications and a commitment to ongoing professional development — so the advice you receive is always current, ethical and competent.
Louw obtained the CFP® designation through the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI). This internationally recognised qualification reflects the highest standard of competence, ethics, and professionalism in financial planning.
The CFP® designation requires applicants to meet the four E’s — Education, Examination, Experience and Ethics — and to complete 35 hours of continuing professional development each year, including at least five hours in professional ethics.
He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of the Free State, which provided the academic foundation for his CFP® designation and supports his ability to deliver comprehensive, strategic financial advice.
At Louw Lubbe Financial Planning, our strength lies in a dedicated team committed to delivering professional, efficient, and client-focused service — guided by our values of Speed, Generosity, Usefulness and Empathy.
